COLLAB

Licence and third-party code

COLLAB is free software under the MIT License, held by Decentralized Science Labs LLC. This page gives the licence, says what it covers, and lists the third-party code COLLAB ships with its website or compiles into its contracts, each under its own licence. It is for anyone who runs, copies, changes or redistributes COLLAB.

The MIT License

COLLAB's own code and its documentation are under the MIT License. The text is the file LICENSE at the root of the repository and of every release archive:

In short: you may use, copy, change, publish, distribute, sublicense and sell COLLAB, as long as the copyright notice and the permission notice go with every copy or substantial part of it. COLLAB comes without any warranty, and COLLAB 2.2 is an alpha with no external audit: Security at a glance says what that means for your funds.

What it covers

Every file Decentralized Science Labs LLC wrote for COLLAB names the licence in its first line:

Kind of fileIts first line
Solidity// SPDX-License-Identifier: MIT, then // Copyright (c) 2026 Decentralized Science Labs LLC
JavaScript and CSS/* MIT License. Copyright (c) 2026 Decentralized Science Labs LLC. */
Python# MIT License. Copyright (c) 2026 Decentralized Science Labs LLC. (after the shebang)
HTML and these Markdown pages<!-- MIT License. Copyright (c) 2026 Decentralized Science Labs LLC. --> (HTML: after the doctype)

That covers the contracts, the website, the server kit, the tools, the tests and this documentation. Files that come from elsewhere keep their own headers and licences, listed below.

Third-party code

COLLAB includes or builds on the software below. Each part remains under its own licence. THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md at the root of the repository has the details (versions, commits, checksums of the unmodified files) and the licence texts that have no file of their own.

Compiled into the contracts

ComponentWhat COLLAB usesLicence
OpenZeppelin Contracts 5.1.0ReentrancyGuard, Clones, Checkpoints, Math, SafeCast, SafeERC20 and the token interfacesMIT
OpenZeppelin Contracts Upgradeable 5.1.0Initializable, ERC20Upgradeable, OwnableUpgradeable and ReentrancyGuardUpgradeableMIT
Solady 0.1.26SSTORE2, in TextStoreMIT
forge-std 1.9.4the tests and scripts only; nothing of it is deployedMIT or Apache-2.0

Shipped with the website

ComponentFileLicence
ethers.js 6.17.0web/js/vendor/ethers-6.17.0.min.jsMIT
libsodium.js 0.8.2, a wrapper around libsodiumweb/js/vendor/sodium-0.8.2.js, unmodifiedISC
mlkem-wasm 0.0.7 (ML-KEM-768, a WebAssembly build of mlkem-native)web/js/vendor/mlkem-0.0.7.js, unmodifiedMIT; mlkem-native is Apache-2.0 OR ISC OR MIT
markdown-it 14.1.0, with the linkify-it, mdurl, uc.micro, punycode.js and entities it bundlesweb/js/vendor/markdown-it-14.1.0.min.js, unmodifiedMIT; entities is BSD-2-Clause
Inter, JetBrains Mono and Source Serif 4web/assets/fonts/SIL Open Font License 1.1

markdown-it parses the Markdown that DAOs store on chain, and COLLAB turns its result into page elements, never into HTML.

Contracts COLLAB works with

ComponentWhereLicence
CIPNFT contract, as deployed on GenesisL1externals/src/CIPNFT.solMIT, Decentralized Science Labs
GL1F Forest contracts, as deployed on GenesisL1externals/src/forest/MIT, Decentralized Science Labs
GL1F Crypto contracts, unmodified copies of their sourcesexternals/src/crypto/, used by the tests and local chains onlyMIT, Decentralized Science Labs

These are the GenesisL1 protocols a DAO can integrate (see Integrations). COLLAB does not deploy them on GenesisL1; it uses the contracts already there.

The licence files in a release

Each licence asks that its notice goes with the copies. A release archive keeps them all:

  • LICENSE and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md at its root;
  • the licence file of each library under lib/ (LICENSE, LICENSE.txt, or LICENSE-APACHE and LICENSE-MIT);
  • web/js/vendor/LICENSE-ethers.md and web/js/vendor/LICENSE-markdown-it.txt;
  • the font licences in web/assets/fonts/: OFL-Inter.txt, OFL-JetBrainsMono.txt and LICENSE-Source-Serif-4.txt.

The ISC licence of libsodium.js and the MIT licence of mlkem-wasm are quoted in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md. If you publish a copy of COLLAB, changed or not, keep these files with it.
