COLLAB

Privacy and cookies

COLLAB runs in your browser; this site's server only hands out files. This page lists what it keeps on your device, what your browser sends and to whom, and how to change it.

In short

  • There is no account and no sign-up. The site is a set of static files; nothing you do is sent to a COLLAB server. Like any web server, it sees the requests for its files.
  • DAO pages can come prerendered for search engines and link previews. The host builds them from public chain data, such as a DAO's name, description and counts; they are static files too and collect nothing about visitors.
  • A few settings stay in your browser's local storage, listed below. They never leave your device.
  • Your browser talks to the GenesisL1 network endpoint you choose and to your wallet. As with any blockchain site, the endpoint can see which addresses and DAOs you look at.
  • No advertising and no tracking cookies. Analytics run only where a deployment of COLLAB configures them, and only after you accept.

What stays in your browser

These keys are kept in your browser's local storage for this site, apart from the last one, which lives in the tab's session storage. None of them holds a secret: encryption keys for sealed data are derived from your wallet when needed and kept in memory only, until you switch accounts or leave the page.

KeyWhat it holds
collab-themeYour theme: System, Light or Dark.
collab-rpcThe network endpoint you chose. Absent while the choice is automatic.
collab-explorerThe block explorer that links open. Absent while it is the default.
collab-currencyThe currency you chose for amounts next to L1. Absent until you choose one: then US dollars from the price this site publishes.
collab-priceThe last L1 price this site published, or the last one fetched for the currency you chose, and when.
collab-cookie-infoWhen you closed the cookie notice, so it is not shown again.
collab-consentYour analytics choice and its date. Only used when this site has analytics configured.
collab-walletWhich wallet you connected last, so the site can reconnect it without asking.
collab-tokensToken addresses you added to your token lists.
collab-descifiYour DeSciFi slippage tolerance and transaction deadline.
collab-create-draftYour unfinished DAO in the creation wizard, until you create it or start over.
collab-sealed-key-version:…Which version of your sealed-data key you registered, per chain, keyring and account. The key itself is never stored.
collab-deploy:…Progress of a protocol deployment in the admin page's Deploy tab, per chain and account: the external addresses, and the transaction, nonce and address of each contract. No keys or secrets.
collab-dao-names:…This tab's copy of the DAOs' names and web addresses as read from the chain, so shared names can be flagged without reading every DAO again. Kept in session storage: it goes when you close the tab.

What your browser sends

  • To the network endpoint. Requests that read blocks, contracts and event logs of GenesisL1. Its operator sees your IP address and what you look up. You choose the endpoint in Settings.
  • To your wallet. Transactions and signatures, only when you start them. Your wallet shows each one and sends it only if you approve.
  • To the price service. Only after you choose a currency yourself in the currency menu or in Settings: then one request for the L1 price every five minutes at most, carrying no address or identifier of yours beyond what every web request carries. Until you choose, amounts show in US dollars from the price this site's server fetches from CoinGecko and publishes with the site (it asks every ten minutes, for everyone at once), so your browser never contacts CoinGecko for it.
  • To the block explorer. Only when you open one of its links.

Fonts, images and code are served by this site itself. Its security policy lets the browser reach only the endpoints listed here.

Analytics

COLLAB counts visits only where a deployment configures Google Analytics. Then a prompt asks first, and nothing is requested from Google before you choose Accept. Declining is remembered for six months and accepting for twelve, after which you are asked again. Google Analytics then sets its own cookies (_ga, _ga_…) to tell visits apart; advertising features and Google signals are turned off. Choosing Decline later deletes those cookies.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, COLLAB treats it as a decline: there is no prompt, only a short note, and analytics stay off unless you accept them yourself in Cookie settings. COLLAB never sells or shares data.

Your choices

  • Change the endpoint, explorer, currency and theme in Settings.
  • Open Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to see or change your analytics choice.
  • Remove everything COLLAB stored with Remove COLLAB data from this browser, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Who makes COLLAB

COLLAB is open-source software by Decentralized Science Labs LLC, released under the MIT License. A copy of the site can be hosted by anyone; its operator chooses the default endpoints and whether analytics are configured, and this page then shows that configuration. Questions and reports are welcome on GitHub.
